Comparing legalising slavery to legalising same sex marriages...

 

I love how they're calling marriage a fundamental human right and yet denying it to a whole cross-section of society.

Civil partnerships are already marriages, just with a legalese name.

1. The man is member of an organisation in which men practice celibacy, wear dresses and molest children on a habitual (see what I did there?) basis. His opinion is invalid.

2. It is also unscientific. Research has shown that children raised by gay parents are just as well-adjusted as children raised by straight parents. Children raised by lesbian parents prove slightly better adjusted. As for the "'Tis not natural" argument: gay couplings have been documented in 4500 vertebrate species and thoroughly researched in 2500. They consistently prove to have selective advantages for the offspring.

3. The church has no patent on the concept of marriage. It was here first. So not only is their opinion invalid and unscientific; it is also irrelevant.

 

I think he was talking about the right to a mother and father....just sayin.

 

How is it different to childs single mothers (with no know father) or orphans ?

 

Could you share some links? Never looked into this, but it sounds like it's worth some reading.

I'm not arguing the point, I think the point the guy was making was that everyone has a right to a mother and father, not the right to marriage as Zoon was taking it to mean.

FYI just because someone doesn't have something doesn't mean they don't still have the right to it (again, not arguing the particular case presented here, I'm just not sure what you're getting at in general)

I love it when people use the term natural, they are usually the same people who use 'normal' to mean themselves.

In this case natural I guess would mean as nature intended. Well humans have historically been social animals riased in family groups with breast feeding shared among the females so I would argue that only having a mother and father raising a child would qualify as unnatural historically. But thats another socialogical tangent for another thread.

BTW I'm demotivated writing this as I am using the worst keyboard in the world to type. I'm literally punching the keys here like Chris Brown punc...... well you get the idea.
