As far as I can see he clips the snowy should, overcorrects and ends up hitting the white can? And then thunders across the entire 4 lanes to get hit by the truck.

If there had been a central reservation / barrier like there should be on every motorway or large dual carriage way, he'd still be alive- road planners can be total retards sometimes, especially when they know the kind of weather their country is likely to receive & how hazardous it can make driving conditions.

Hate to be the one to point out the obvious here, but just maybe the lot of them were driving beyond a safe speed for the road conditions and/or their handling competence. Whilst I won't argue against a central divider aiding in making the crash slightly less dramatic, it flatly wouldn't have altogether prevented it, whereas one could very well argue that better driving aptitude or lower speeds would have prevented the accident in the first place.

Regrettably I know this will fall on deaf ears, as most motorists will still scream that speed limits should be increased, and testing standards lowered (or kept at their current level). This is what demotivates me more than anything: blind ignorance.

EDIT: And just to elevate the mood a bit, have some funny:

A video of a car skidding on an icy road, and falling right in front of a massive truck, which completely destroyed the car. 'Twas horrifying.

What people fail to realise is that you have to adapt your driving style to thew conditions, and far more than you would expect. However, I don't feel that this really has anything to do with speed limits as driving beyond your capabilities is driving beyond your capabilities no matter whether it's within the speed limit or not.

On an unrelated note, cars nowadays are designed to disintegrate; it protects you a lot at 30-40 mph although at 70... well you're not going to be walking out of it either way.

I tend to disagree to a certain extent. My head-on collision with a tree a couple of years ago was at at least* 60mph and the car saved my life. I shook myself off and walked away with nothing but an airbag burn. It depends on how much you hit or how much hits you. Mine was a single impact and a dead stop, if I'd bounced off one tree and into another it might've been a different story.

*Exact speed not known. Was too busy braking and avoiding other cars to look.
