You weren't in eastern Europe yet, right ? In '90s cable TV worked exactly that way, there was a high demand and there was no time to do it properly, buried in ground. Of course they had to redo it after the initial boom and these days, you cannot do cables in air at all (even the electricity has to go underground in most cities if possible).

This post was around the time of the furore around Kony2012, with everyone talking about the horrors in Uganda. However, this image shows the fact that quite simply, a lot of people were ignorant of Uganda, and possibly the entire African continent, pre-Kony.

 

As an atheist, I apologise for all the antitheists masquerading as atheists as they bash other people's religions.

Antitheist = anti religious

Two different things entirely, demotes me every time I see atheism being abused.

To quote Derren Brown (sort of), the a- prefix simply denotes something that isn't whatever the word means. Theist means belief in the existence of God/Gods, atheist means non-belief in the same thing. Philatelist means collector of stamps, aphilatelist means non-collector of stamps. Not someone who is fundamentally opposed to the collection of stamps. It would become tiresome rather quickly if we started referring to people by what they're not, wouldn't it?

 

Well, that's me demotivated.
