    I think perhaps the 'be normal' part was written as an attack on people who are 'normal' ( and aren't actually 'free' as such ); the homeless junky being the person who considers themselves to be actually free. Either conform like everyone else and have a fairly decent life but be bound by the rules of law and society, or say screw it and be a homeless bum who hates the system but at least doesn't have to follow it's rules.

    That's certainly possible... but perhaps the author isn't just a homeless bum with wild dreams?
    Maybe it's someone with a plan to prosper, without being restricted to the typical rules followed by society?
