    Yeah, a little more tweaking reveals the 'scan this image with your smartphone to find shelter if you are homeless' picture; the joke being a homeless person probably hasn't got a smartphone, just in case anyones a bit slow.

    I guess I tweaked the link wrong the first time as what I managed to find was just plain wrong... :D

    I'm assuming this is referring to the pic that shall not be named. I haven't seen it either. Call it morbid curiosity.

    Some do, actually, and blog about their lives on Twitter. It makes for quite thoughtful reading.

    Aye, when I was in Dublin, there were quite a few supposedly homeless folks we walked past who were on phones all day. It's weird...

    You'd be surprised how many people choose homelessness. Some people WOULD have a home to go to, and would rather live like that. Many are rejecting our consumerist, greed-driven culture. I spent two stints homeless myself, one voluntary and one involuntary. During the voluntary one I managed a 3.75 GPA in 16 hours of college classes. Nobody knew I was crashing in a tent in the woods. Nobody needed to-it wasn't for their benefit. I did it for me-and I feel like it brought me a lot of perspective. I would do it again, faced with the same circumstances.

    I didn't have a phone, though, or a computer. I had a bike, and a bow I occasionally used to supplant my diet with my neighbors, since they were squirrels and rabbits.

    Sorry, but the guy recording the thing did beat the woman driver trying to park in idiocy. There is a special place in hell for people recording vertical videos.

    Demoted that it took the diagram to show me what should have been painfully obvious to me.

    I wouldn't really call living in a tent ( or cave / tree house etc ) homelessness, that's more of an alternative life style choice kinda-thing. You lived off the land and were self sufficient; a true homeless person lives in a box and/or under a bridge and scrounges/begs for money and food constantly as they do not possess the skills or ability to feed themselves, nor the will or drive to complete their education and better themselves as they are resigned to their fate.

    Seeing as this, the flag "protest" and a couple of other NI related news items are/have been all over the national press lately, I feel that I should make a few points;

    - I don't talk like that. Really, not even close. I work all over the country and that's about the strongest Antrim accent I've ever heard :hehe:

    - I'll admit the video is hilarious. Fair play to them for filming it, she shouldn't have a license and I see similarly poor driving at least once per week, but they were brave lads agreeing to be named and appearing on local and national TV over it! A lot of people didn't think it was as hilarious as most of the Internet has done.

    - The BBCNI presenter talking about this story on Local program Newsline last night called Reddit "Ready". I cringed. Hard.

    And Finally :rolleyes:

    - I don't care what flag they fly or don't fly at City Hall in Belfast. This is the UK, I'm a British Citizen and none of that is going to change any time soon, if ever. Neither is the fact that whilst the thugs calling themselves protesters went out to cause disruption and make a disgrace of themselves for a few weeks, I and millions of other people here still got up for work every morning and got on with our lives where possible. Seriously, I'm all for believing in something and all, and I might even have an opinion about their decision regarding the flag, but the people involved in these so called protests appear to be nothing but scumbags and youngsters who want to start a Riot over anything. I worry about how bad a light the rest of the UK and even the rest of the world sees NI in when things like this make the national news. This situation is comparable to the 2011 England riots without the "tinderbox" or "powder keg" feeling that a history of 30 years of armed conflict carries with the flag riots.

    - For so many reasons, I think it's time we made a blue version of the [IMG] smiley and added it to the forum.

    Second time I was homeless, I saw some people who were like that, and I saw some people in serious need of medical attention that were instead forced out on the streets. Some of those men drink to make the voices go away-not because they are addicts per se, which is another disease, but because they were refused the care that would REALLY make the voices go away. One of the saddest things I ever saw. A hell of a lot of people here are veterans of US conflicts, abandoned by the system after they came home damaged from what they saw. For every lazy or shiftless person (and I saw those, believe me) four or five were in serious need of either psychiatric or general medical care. Something that they have a pretty much zero chance to receive.

    Well, since it's been on the news, hopefully the authorities have seen fit to take her licence from her. The hilarity aside (and it really is ****ing hilarious) it's not inconceivable that her being unable to perform this maneuver could block a narrow street preventing an emergency vehicle getting through and thus potentially costing lives.
