But then I'd be telling lies on the internet. :worried:

I don't think any of my female friends are the kind that are in to hearts wallpaper, anyway. :/

From what I read up on it, a bunch of inventive National Guard first rigged one up in 2011! But similar things were in movies ala the awesome (and I'll hurt anyone that says otherwise) Predator :D

You must admit that it made the films a smidge more interesting that there were a few dramatic tweaks.

And the Eye thing I believe is much better than a man staring into a crystal ball the whole time.

They're not total deal-breakers, no. There's no way you could make those books without skipping and altering a lot of details, and it's testament to the effort they made that the biggest issue (imo) is the fact that Orlando Bloom wasn't summarily executed after the first film for his piss-poor acting.

He did go nuts in the end and did end up burning himself to death I believe. Its been about 5 years since I read them so I'm not 100%.

Cutting out Tom Bombadil was a good move IMO, that's the part where I gave up reading the books.
It could very well be just the fault of the dutch translation I read at the time, but from the part I've read, I'd say Tolkien is a great world builder, but not a great writer.
(I know many will probably disagree. Maybe I'll give the proper english version a shot when I have the time)

    Fair play.

I had to listen to them as I found that they put me to sleep if I read them.
