Not that I've bought a copy for many years, but today I found out that NUTS magazine is closing down, offline & online. Quite demote really...

I don't see why anyone would be surprised to be honest. Who buys a magazine anymore when it's all free online?

I never saw the fascination with magazines like that; it's a lot of money just for a few naked pictures, isn't it? Or they genuinely are interested in the articles of course.

Considering that writers like Stephen King wrote some exclusives for Playboy there is something to it.

They used have good quality journalism in them, you be surprised by the number of big journalist who started out in the FHM, nuts ect.

But they have become more and more aimed at the douchebag part of male society that has become bigger in the UK http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/anatomy-of-a-new-modern-douchebag coupled with more and more tits. You can get tits ad more for free on the internet so why pay for a mag with piss poor journalism.

I've read a few FHM (while waiting at the barber's, honest!), and actually they are surprisingly entertaining and informative once you get past the unavailable sex fantasy chicks, that is.

I suppose it depends which market is bigger: The gobble up women or decent articles one, and I'm quite sure the people looking for decent articles can find them elsewhere without the rest. It does surprise me that FHM can survive so well doing both.

So I was randomly browsing the Imgur frontpage when I saw a picture on my great great aunt:

I'd place mags like FHM, GQ and the like way above the dross that is NUTS & ZOO- some of the photoshoots in the lesser mags were quite good but the stories were nonsensical dribble and the rest was adverts mainly.

According to the article I read they are going bust for the reasons already stated- you can get tits for free online and there aren't enough people willing to pay ~£3.00 for tits + shoddy fluff articles you normally see in something like The Sun or Daily Sport.

The larger mags will probably be fine for a while longer, at least they offer a decent level of quality stories and articles along with classy birds to ogle....

Some of the tech mags can be just as bad iirc [it's been a while since i've read one]...

ADVERT! ADVERT ADVERT! Article that may as well *be* an advert... ADVERTOIRAL! ADVERT! TITS! ADVERT! ADVERT ADVERT!

Though tbh I stopped buying some [most] of the 3D Art/design mags for much the same reason... not only were they not cheap magazines [£6 a pop for a lot of them], the adverts seemed outnumber the articles... And usually there was only one article in the entire mag that was of any interest anyway...
