That is terrible. I feel sorry for you guys. We Australians get an honorary entry this year (because Australia is sooooo much a part of Europe) and of all the awesome and exciting bands we have, the selectors chose the "safe" path of Guy Sebastiyawn. Ugh.

Well, Oz is/was basically just an extension of the UK- got to stick the convicts somewhere & we didn't want them in our own backyard, so... :worried: :D

I'm curious about the other good bands though, I'm only really familiar with Delta Goodrem, Kylie, Jason Donovan & Rolf Harris as australian musicians...

    Not sure if serious....

9 Eurovision contenders better than Guy Sebastian
. 1000s of people signed a petition to get TISM (1983-2002) to reform. They did the anonymous musicians in masks years before it was cool.

AC/DC are Australian? Who knew... ( not me it seems ).

All the same, I guess the reason the powers that be chose a 'safe' bet to go with is the same reason our powers that be chose such a cheesy, naff and inoffensive group to go with- too dumb to realise the way to win is usually to be controversial or seriously edgey/different and stand out. Then again, no good group would ever want to enter because we all know the rest of Europe hates us so they'd get a crap score regardless. Aphix Twin or the Prodigy would have been my choice... :D

... that's why you sent them to an unspoiled sunny paradise full of mineral wealth and the most diverse wildlife on the planet. That'll teach 'em! :D

She's a family friend. she has cystic fibrosis and her singing has strengthened her lungs and means that her life will be prolonged enough for her to get married later this year and maybe have kids before it kills her.

I agree it's cheesy, but the whole competition is a cheesy joke. Maybe they'll get some votes, but not enough that we have to host next year.

It's a damned small world sometimes. It's not the singing that is bad ( voice sounds fine, compared to 2003's entry ), it's just the style of the music- not exactly catchy or edgy or a transvestite etc etc. Too safe.

I do hope her health holds up though, that is a really crappy illness.

Her voice is fine for the style of music, his on the other hand, no. And when he starts scatting, that's when I stopped listening, that bit was painful.

Shame he was discredited for being a perv, he was obviously as passionate about female students a quarter of his own age as he as about physics :(

not a major fan of the song, though have to admit I've been liking electro-swing of recent.

IMO better than most entries the UK has sent in of recent.

So, my flamate's just walked in and she has a problem. Her boyfriend is on the train to Portsmouth to get the ferry to France, but she'sw just found out it's cancelled, and there's no trains back to Bristol tonight. Plus, he doesn't have a working phone, so she can't tell him to get off and come back.
So it looks like I'll be driving to Portsmouth in a moment to pick him up and bring him home :(
Oh, and a friend has the front of my car stereo so no music on the drive :wallbash:

    * edit, Brittany Ferries are going to find somewhere to put him up for the night when he arrives, so I don't have to drive. And I'm going to get him a UK SIM card whether he wants one or not, so he's contactable in future :p
