My bad, I didn't even see your post with all my scrolling up & down looking for posts to reply to.

Punishment beatings are fun, and far swifter than a long drawn out legal case that often results in not much being done to punish someone who has done wrong.

I'm sure a lot of guns did end up on the black market; we're talking about pistols and revolvers costing hundreds of pounds that the police just expected people to hand over, with ZERO compensation, or they were expected to remove the firing pin and weld a lump of steel in the barrel to render it non-firing ( by a gunsmith ).

It's no suprise at all that many ( I doubt the majority however... ) people decided to sell their guns instead and be damned with what happend to or with them afterwards. I'm not saying its right or clever, but it's understandable- legal gun owners were punished for the actions of one man who should never have owned a gun to start with, and for the actions of criminals who got their shooters on the black market regardless ( smuggled in from abroad or stolen, indeed ).

With regards NI again, that is a very high rate of gun ownership, and a very low rate of recorded gun crime ( only 1/4 person more killed per 100k people than the UK, which has a much large population )- people burning cars and rioting over political issues happens in England too, very few guns involved usually. UK rioters are a more civilised bunch compared to some countries, something we shoud be greatful for...

Legal gun ownership in NI tends to be by current or former law enforcement, and security for personal safety of higher profile 'targets' like politicians. Our law enforcement is highly discouraged to draw their weapon unless in clear and direct personal danger. Our comparitvely high rate of ownership is largey made up by highly trained individuals, and professionals.

NI rioters are only slightly more civilized in that they realize they have to live in the place they're destroying, so focus all their stupidity on the police, cause they can't get at the other people they don't like. The English riots a few years ago made ours look like a tea party on the street though. Neither NI, nor the rest of the UK riots tend to ever involve guns though. In fact I think our riot police are deliberately disarmed, with armed units ready behind the line when needed.

Yes, airgun shooting is an Olympic sport, deal with it. So is archery- remember how we used to use long bows to kill eachother in wars? We didn't ban those...

You know how to make yourself a target for ridicule? BY offering up opinions as facts and then acting suprized when someone tears you down by correcting you. Maybe not you personally, but you get the point...

I'm glad to hear that well trained people make up the majority of legal gun owners. I was being sarcastic about the rioting though, but it does indeed say something when guns are not involved- people just need to vent sometimes without actually killing eachother...

A few seconds would be easy, then after that you probably wouldn't taste much anyway. The only real issue would be avoiding over-stimulation, 'cos then things could get messy.
