Someone who has not read the Thrawn trilogy should never be allowed to produce a Star Wars movie.

And yet Thrawn was a big player in later seasons of the official Lucasfilm-made SW: Rebels cartoon.

The following is taken from a retweet by Jess Phillips, labour MP (now candidate) for Yardley, Birmingham. I'm sure you will appreciate why I put it in "demote".

In a roundabout way that almost makes sense, but I bet at least one person took that randomly generated password and started using it on other accounts. The world always creates a better idiot.

Lazy programmers. The impact of holding a string encrypted versus cleartext and validating them is virtually none existent on most platforms.

    No. Nope. Noooooo.
You don't encrypt passwords, either. You hash them; a very different operation.

If you have enough computing power salted hashes can still be broken on weak passwords. It's the same logic as using a password manager; one breach doesn't cascade to other sites where you've reused the same password. So long as practical pentest uses a third party payment processor, it's far from the worst internet security fail the internet has ever seen.
