And the Most Retarded Audio Product Of This Week award goes to... *drumroll*...

This optical TOSLINK cable with gold plated connectors!

Yes, that's right! A fibre-optic cable with gold plated connectors to ensure a better electrical connection... to... er... a housing that isn't electrically connected to ANYTHING!

At least they're not charging £5000 for it I guess. Doubtless someone out there somewhere is charging a fortune for them though.

Russ Andrews is usually a reliable source of uber-priced cables but, they only offer one optical cable starting at £69, does come with the usual added bullsh*t though: https://www.russandrews.com/kimber-opt1-26509992020/

Yes indeed, surely this has to qualify for the most overpriced item in the chain that cannot really have any audio benefit...

well this all started when analogue cables started to be gold plated for a better connection, and the public got it into their mindset that gold plated cables = better
Same with Blue Led power indicators, back in the day Blue Leds were more expensive to make, so only upmarket TV's used them, so the public figured blue Led = Better, of course that meant even crappy tv's had blue leds so the point became moot

Woke up today to the news that I'm living in the worst MSOA in the county, and probably the worst in a 30+ mile radius...

Not sure how that happened; it's a small quiet suburban area near the sea, half the mapped area is unpopulated as it's a nature reserve.

It's a popular retirement area, maybe a cluster has appeared in the last week or two.

No surprises that we're in Tier 4 from midnight.

@David is this the 'Levelling Up' Boris has been banging on about?

I suppose it 's better than dropping to the lowest common denominator.

I'm sure we have had an influx of non locals helping to bump the numbers up too.

Just wait until Tier 7 which is where everyone has to move in with either Gove, Hancock or McVey...

    You got it, Tre.

We had a shed load of Second Home arseholes hit our fair isle as soon as they announced London was going into Tier 4. They've gone now, we've levelled up to T4, their work is done. They didn't do it alone though - when the island was set at Tier 1, and The Sun plastered "All Wight for some" on their front page, there were asshats arranging booze cruises (seriously) to the island from Southampton and Pompey. Feel the love.

It's worked in West Somerset too. In August the infection rate in the Somerset West and Taunton District Council area, was less than 10 per 100,000, now it's over 400...

D'you know, it's *really* hard to find proper pocket protectors these days?

    EDIT:
