    Ah, imagine that - IF they could knock a zero or two off and IF I could get some incredibly well-paid overtime, I could surprise the missus with a "nice addition" to the corner of the lounge. And scare the daylights out of the kids as an added bonus.

    Maybe give it the old "Robot! Hold that table lamp up nicely for us." Bet he'd have the right 'ump with his new role within a week (probably shouldn't risk that, actually... :worried:).

    Bleh, it's just the owning company. Facebook itself - as in, the service itself - is unlikely to change its branding any time soon... or... ever.

    Same deal with Google/Alphabet a couple of years back: meaningless corporate bullplop.

    I know it's meaningless to the end user. But the idea of Facebook sharing a name with a character that singlemindendly absorbs intelligences and data with no regard to the damage it's doing along the way is too good to ignore.

    I think it will effect branding a lot more than Google/Alphabet did though. Google's services were all already clearly google branded so there was no need. Facebook on the other hand have an assortment of services that half the time people don't know or forget are all under the same umbrella. I think you'll probably (at least in time) see uniform branding with "Meta" upfront, so "Meta facebook", "Meta whatsapp" etc.
