Oh no, it’s not true, it can’t be…

Please, no, it can’t be true…

I think an “AI” model has just “helped” solve a particularly gnarly Python programming challenge I’ve been facing for a while.

It didn’t give me the whole solution, but what it provided was the lynchpin for the solution I had in mind. And the code works.

I could have easily found this same answer through a search engine. In fact I did check for the answer through a search engine, which provided extremely similar information on StackOverflow.

But I asked an LLM first, and the LLM got it right.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the angry dome.

Are you sure you didn't just ask a stopped clock?

    Well… I pretty much did.

I’m just aggrieved that I happened to ask it for the time at the exact point it stopped.

(Boy I didn’t half torture that metaphor…! :hehe:)

The Impact of Generative AI on Critical Thinking: Self-Reported Reductions in Cognitive Effort and Confidence Effects From a Survey of Knowledge Workers, Lee at al, CHI '25. PDF download.

Worth mentioning that the paper comes from one guy at Carnegie Mellon... and six at Microsoft Research. The same Microsoft currently trying to shove AI down everyone's throats whether they want it or not.

And now Elon "AI is bad, mmkay?" Musk is now trying to buy OpenAI for $97.4bn. AI-run US Government?

Sam Altman's response was genius: "No thanks, Elon, but we'll buy Twitter for $9.74bn if you like" :hehe::lol:

Already the plan: DOGE has been feeding sensitive government data to unregulated AIs because of course it has. Meanwhile, here's one of the DOGE Muskjugend asking... well, see for yourself:

    EDIT:
    Speaking of LLMs:
    Source.

Remember: LLMs don't (and can't) summarise, they can only *shorten* - and with a one-in-five chance of bonus making-crap-up thrown in for good measure.

If LLMs worked like the marketing department claims they do, I'd save myself about seven hours' work a day. The fact I'm not using 'em should go quite some way to demonstrate how far the claims are from reality.

Maybe it's the marketing department that should be replaced by an LLM? ;)

For those who still, for whatever reason, buy the barely-drinkable corporate overmarketed swill from BrewDog: Dickbrain in Chief has decided to do a Musk and launch "Shadow DOGE" to tackle government spending. No, nobody asked him to. No, he still isn't talking about that "lost forest" he was supposed to plant and for which the government gave him a £1.2 million grant. Hey, James, I think I've just found some inappropriate government spending that could be clawed back!

He's the one who claims Britons don't have a good work ethic - translation: my employees don't work hard enough for the pittance I pay them.

His beer tastes like stale sweat anyway, so I can't imagine Musk sweat tasting any better.

I’ve just read that next Monday, in the US, is President’s Day. They really should rename it Dangerous Lunatic Dictator’s Day, at least until the Orange C*nt is gone…

The plan ("plan," 'cos they're winging it) continues apace: Elon Musk staffer created a DOGE AI assistant for making government ‘less dumb’. Not The Onion.

Also, bonus points for Pedo Guy in Chief having shown his entire backside on Twitter-as-was by claiming a bunch of people were claiming benefits at 150 years old... not realising (because neither he nor any of his Muskjugend have any idea what they're doing) that the default date picked by COBOL if, say, the date of birth field is left empty happens to be 150 years ago.

I was never going to buy a Tesla. Now I doubt I'll ever voluntarily get in one, either. Remember, folks: they've a worse safety record (twice as many fire deaths!) than the Ford Pinto, a vehicle that was recalled due to its tendency to asplode.

They also have an increased chance of someone painting a dick on them, for recent reasons.

Ah, the ideal decoration for a swasticar!

Another fun fact to throw into the mix: to date, the Cybertruck has sold in fewer numbers than Sir Clive's C5.

To be fair, the C5 does offer much more headroom than the cybertruck. A key USP.

Elon has descended into being one of the most deplorable people on the planet, but a good chunk of you are carrying around apple products made using quasi slave labor and Steve Jobs didn't even try to hide how much of an a$shole he was.

    Just sayin'

I'm not¹, and Steve Jobs has the double benefit of: a) not being a Nazi and 2) being dead.

Here's hoping Pedo Guy can achieve the same lofty heights!

1: I'm carrying around a Motorola product made using quasi-slave labour. Totally different thing.

At least Jobs did everyone the courtesy of dying.

Also jobs didn't try to take over the us govt, wasn't [at least outwardly] an apartheid-nostalgic nazi ****wit, didn't turn his company's stock into a meme stock totally disconnected with reality and so on and so on...

EDIT: @Gareth Halfacree and his professional typing fingers beat me to it
