I have the NTL service at 512k and saw on their site they can get 600k do they just switch it over automatically as they are the same price or do you need to ring them??

The service started out @ 512k, and ntl upped it l8r for the same price to 600k. I think its a marketing thing over adsl.

good question as im wondering that...

but i think they do it automatically, as my net connection got faster a couple of months ago...even if it was only by about 88k, i thought it was a bit faster, when doing downloads...

might pay the extra tenner for 1mbit:D

The upgrade to 600k is automatic. I didn't even know they were doing it until I got my latest bill. So that was a nice bonus :)

OK there are two ansers to this question....

    1. If you are in an old ntl area, ie you never had any thing to do with C&W the 512 modem was actually running at 600k for the last 2 years or so.. It was sold at 512 but actually capped at 600 just to make sure 'we exceed customer expectations' well that and the techs were fed up and being shouted at by people who clocked their speed at 511k

    2. If you connect to ntl: through your set top box it was set at 512 till a few months back when they uped it to 600k to align the products.

And the good news it that the 1meg service price is staying at 34.99 ... but you didn't here that from me :D

couzo it doesn't matter what it says on your bill.... there is no such thing as the 512 service. the service levels are set by TFTP files, and we got 3 of them for residential peeps

    BRONZE 128 down 64 up
    SILVER 600 down 128 up
    GOLD 1024 down 256 up
