If you have a NTL line (No BT Line) at a house, what are the options for broadband ?

Havent heard too many good things about NTL broadband, so a bit reluctant to go with them.

AOL can be used - but who wants their crap software ?

Are there any other options ?

ntl can be very good, as long as you dont ever call their customer services (who helpfully informed me 'the internet is not compatible with linux, i need to format my hard drive and install windows', later on the same day 'you need to put the disk in and let windows run it, it works on your computer, your not supposed to use it with the linux program')

i use ntl atm, and its pretty good, i rarely have a problem with it, as long as its running fine, you should be happy.

But NTL have download limits - I would much rather have a connection which does not impose ridiculous download limits.

NTL have download limits which (currently) aren't enforced. On NTL here and have been for a while, it's pretty stable. The only issue I have is sometimes during CS:S play my ping goes a bit loopy for a few seconds apart from that I'm pretty happy with them.

As Zidane just don't ever call customer services.

I too made that mistake with the customer service. it took me ages to get rid of them, then they billed me 4 times including final demands and even one solicitor's letter for a cock up that they made with my final bill.

Other than that the service was great plus I have heard rumours about an upgrade to 10Mb in the near future (from an ntl engineer - shhh)

10meg is on the way from NTL as they are merging with telewest and it dosent mke sence to have one company offereing different services in different areas. Their just upgrading the network infrastructure to be able to cope. Just watch out for the rebranding of TelewestL (telewest has to be the major part to stop them loosing UKTV)
