Hello, i have NTL broband through my set-top box, and i wish to set it up on a wireless router to my pcs.

I have a Mentor 802.11g wireless AP Router (Mentor Wireless Access Point) with 4 port 10/100 switch. and a PCI reciver card in the pc.
I have connect it up correctly as i can speak to another pc which i hav, i just cant connect to any web page/site. i tried to config the router with the wizzard but dont think i have done this right as it does a test at the end and fails to connect.

Has any one set up a wireless router before with ntl.

    can any one help??

There could be a few things that could cause it not to work:

Make sure you have the correct DNS entries in the router config, iirc ntl's are:
    Primary: 194.168.4.100
    Secondary: 194.168.8.100

Make sure the pc's connecting to the router are in the correct ip range for the router, this again can be found in the router config and make sure the routers ip is set as the gateway (if you have your pc to automatically assign itself an ip don't worry about this.)

It could be that you haven't set up the wireless part correctly. Can you see the router the wireless configuration on your pc? (either windows config or a third party config program) Make sure you are searching for the correct SSID if this is switched on. Have you set up WEP encryption - if so then make sure you have entered the correct key into the wireless config on your pc.

    Hope this helps! :thumb:

dont forget when you connect a new "computer" or router in this case - you will have to go to the registration page to allow you to access teh internet. ntl broadband works by identifying the MAC address of the network device that is attached to the modem.

The address you should try is https://autoreg.autoregister.net/ in yer browser - should come up with a "computer provisioning logon" and the click start and enter your details. After that all you need to do is click the add button to enable access.

hope this helps - have a dedicated forum for ntl broadband if you want it?
