i take it you mean you are reinstalling win xp. if the boot disk is and xp one then there would be 6 and it would go in to the xp install. try to get the xp boot disks as it will make installin xp easyer

Boot from the XP CD, use the repair function and it'll sort that out.

    Here
My computer is brand new fresh, and no OS is on it right now

i take the windows xp cd and tried to install it

it didn't install so it said NTLDR Missing pres ctl alt dlt to restart

    no problem fixed
so i put my windows xp boot disk in the floppy
drive, then it doesn't say ntldr missing any more

    so then it sys

    Verifying DMI Pool Data....

    Starting...

    Microsoft (R) Windows Millenium
    C Copyright

    and then it says A:/>

and i dont know what to do next

if some would help me fix this i would appreciate IT!

check you bios to see if it is set to boot from cd first. if it is not the set it to and it will make installing xp easy. if its not that then read this or go to here and get the xp boot disk as there needs to be 6 of them

edit: try bootdisk.com first if you can not boot from cd

First check the bios for the option to boot from cd. If not get a windows 98 os2 bootdisc or one that will load cd drivers.
Change the drive to your cd drive ie d:
then you need to get into the i386 folder so
    cd i386
    then type
    winnt
    to start the setup.

Then for some reason your cd drive doesnt support booting, your disc is not bootable (is it a copy?) or on some you have to press a button on boot which it tells you to.
Just go the floppy route as described above.

go the floppy route but use the 6 xp boot disks if not you will be 30mins + waiting for the files to transfer to the hard drive
