Rant Nuisance phone calls

Unfortunately we have next to no signal in the village plus only my daughter is on a contract, it's also expensive for my family to ring our mobiles as they have land lines.

 

I've got no signal at all in my house regardless of any network 30inch thick stone walls will do that, I'm with three and they have a app that allows you to make and receive calls and text via your broadband.

 

I use an answering machine. I rarely pick up the phone unless it's a call I know, otherwise it goes to the answering machine. I reply to the messages I want and delete the rest.

 

One of my friends did something similar, kept a conservatory/double glazing salesman on the line for nearly an hour... then asked them exactly *how* they were going to fit this conservatory to the 14th floor of a tower block...

 

My dad did this, I think last time I told this story Nexxo called him the ultimate troll. Went through all the usual questions etc. Booked appointment etc, caller says "thank you, any more questions?", he asked if they could install the conservatory on stilts due to living in a first floor flat. Caller called him a time wasting knob and hung up.

 

Of course it sucks for them, but ultimately there is nothing you can do that is worse than what the rogue organizations they are employed by already did (no, I'm not going to dignify them by using the word company).

 

I bought a phone with call blocking built in. If I block a number it just doesn't ring at all. It's a BT6500

 

I don't get any of these calls, ever.

I know my Dad does and he's quite rude to them when they call, makes my mother cringe half the time when they call and he launches a mouthful of abuse at them. I find it rather funny some times just by what he says. I remember he ones asked one cold caller the following question.

"Do you like sex and travel ?"

Cold caller "Yes"

My Dad "Well F*** off then"

On the odd occasion he has had them call him back when he's done that or I've been then there and I've answered the phone and given them an earful of abuse too.

The sad fact is, if you have as phone line you are a target for these calls, ex directory or not. As ex directory these days really doesn't mean a great pile.

 

Off topic but just call Three and they will send you a home signal box, they did for me.

 

I don't get any to my mobile or my house phone though the missus gets them to her phone. I feel so unloved.

 

I did and they said they was doing the app instead now, It actually works fine though.
