3080 for £1200... https://www.cclonline.com/product/3...Bm39k4BUsiEF_CmQQbmOe43oA0J56fyNFCAUoj1QBWpZA
CCL weren't marking up quite so much on 3080 cards earlier this year. I suppose desperate times and all that.
Scan were one the few who had resisted serious markups. Until now. It's just all out fubar. Oh, and discovered the backplate on the PNY 3070 I got is ****ing plastic and insulates the **** out the back of the card. Down right pony.
Meanwhile in the land of fake discounts: 3060 "reduced" by a massive £410.01... https://www.cclonline.com/product/3...NG-OC-12GB-Overclocked-Graphics-Card/VGA6058/
Saw a Gigabyte 3090 on CCL for £2200... You'll find more generous scalping on ebay. I met a miner the other day who had 18 3xxx series cards earning him money while loads of gamers are without. ********
I don't totally blame CCL for this. As much as I would like to get out my broom I can't. The bottom line is they are getting virtually no supply. At all. Not even of older cards or "bread and butter" ones. They are still a business, and their rates and stuff won't be free. This is a **** show of epic proportions, from the top down.
I understand they are trying to cover their overheads etc, what's the rough markup % on computer parts? CPU's, mothebroards, memory etc...?
Yes, but how much money stored up in those graphics cards? That's a lot of money to re-coup before Ethereum becomes pointless to mine in July... (unless he can then sell them for what he paid for them)
Add a bit to make it actually worthwhile in terms of time/overheads, it's still pretty big gamble on there not being a substantial crash between purchase and return on investment.
Oh that £5k is after electricity! Each one of those cards will be making £300 odd after energy costs are subtracted! And seeing as its cold, as LTT said a few weeks ago, you'll be running your heating anyway, so if this heats your house instead its basically free...
It is also approx £25k in hardware. Had he invested £25k in BTC three month ago he'd be sitting on £75k today without having ruined the hobby of 18 people.
