Graphics Nvidia Detonator 40's are out

at least for 2K/XP

 

these have stopped my display properties working, i click advanced then the GeForce 4 Ti 4200 tab and it just closes itself

These suck, going back to 30.82, no performance difference at all. Mind you these drivers aren't WHQL certified yet, which might be part of the problem.

 

Just done a run of 3dmark and got a slight increase from 8113 to 8182.
Played a few games of unreal and had no problems
Will run some more to see if they are stable.

 

OK now up to 8250 , there is a definate gain with these but not much.

 

the way i see it, 3dmark scores mean nothing if i can run all my games properly!

 

True , but its cool to sometimes see just how far you can take your card/system.

Once I find how far it will go I always turn it down a little and run from there.

any way to fix the refresh rate problem in 40.41 drivers

 

I get a 1000 point increase in 3dmark, in nature test i get up to 120fps, 84fps average, from 65

Got them running nicely now, what you have to do is first uninstall any previous driver, and then install the new dets, you get the davanced controls and everything. Don't really see a speed increase, but an not going back to the older driver as it it took me so long to get these working right.

 

yeah they work nicelly

but all the games are still stock in 60hz refresh rate.
right now i'm waiting for the new rivatuner to come out to fix the problem

 

I think I'm gonna stick with the 30.82s for now till most of these bugs get worked out of them. Might wait a month or so and see how they go.

 

Because these are a complete rework of the old drivers you need to uninstall the old ones first. Then do a nice fresh install...

These drivers are much faster, I recommend them, by doing a fresh install you won't have problems with the properties crashing on you.

Detonator 40.41s seem to offer the best performance, just ahead of the 29.42s, but the image quality and the slighty buggy nature in some games (GTA3 especially) of the 40.41s means they're not perfect. Hopefully the next release will solve these problems...

 

New (with 40.41): 11201 3D marks.
Old (with 30.82): 10556 3D marks.
That's a nice increase of 645 marks with an extra 18 FPS on Nature.
Of course not all the benches have gone up, about half went up, the rest have gone down a bit.

edit: Found a bug, hope they manage to fix this in the next release.


edit: after changing my clock/mem settings, my new 3D Mark score is: 11514
Latest almost a 960 point increase over the 30.82 dets.
