Since nVidia released (correct me if I am wrong) their newest card, I have noticed something:

It seems that nVidia is striving for the enthusiast (sp) market, what with their whole "The way its meant to be played" campain, huge coolers, etc etc. Are their purposely abandoning the mainstream (read: <$200 cards) market in hopes that ATi will take the opportunity and leave them all alone in the high-end market? And what about XGI? What will come of them...

Nvidia will have other new cards for mainstream and ATI as well
the X300 and X600 will be from main to performance wise...
the 6800 Ultra and other ones below that will be mainstream to performance wise probably, we'd have to wait and see...

Lets not forget that it was planned that the memory would bij running @ 1600Mhz @ first and that the core has very much clock potential too...
So we could see even a GeForce 6900....

naw, nvidia always does this. they show off a REALLY expensive really high end card then bring out the other kids later for a better spread. although i have noticed (at least back in the FX line) that nvidia didn't really have a middle market card for a while. the 5200 and 5600 (which i think was expensive too) were pretty crappy and the 5900 used to be real expensive.

Top end graphics are about 3% of market, then middle is about 15% then rest is other 82% (thats sales wise).

The day nvidia stop selling <$200 gpu's will be the day nvidia stop selling gpu's.
