lol play nicely now! ...well this has been the dullest period in graphics since the 8800gtx pwnd everything before it right up until gt200 got released. The 3870x2 and 9800gtx were all full of 'meh'. Check out hardocp's latest 5870 review, even they said they were bored at the mo. Hence any sign of movement on nvidias side is pounced upon by everyone.

Seriously though, the 460 might actually be a good product.

You remember silicondoc? he got banned from anandtech, and you really have to go for it to get the boot from there. Check out any buyers guide from last year. His comments literally went into the dozens. Internet loonies: 10% of the internet population.

The power saving not really in the equation then. The 5830 is akin to the 4860 and 4830 (not so sure about this); cards to filll out those unbinned chips.

I agree it has been a bit boring of late; the release of the 38XX cards in the budget arena was welcoming to start some competition in the 8800gtx days. hopefully the midrange will hotten up (and not in a fermi kind of way!).

nRollo got banned from Hexus too; they didn't do a scorched earth though and delete all his posts tho. I wanted to know what has happened if only for some malicous gossip.

The gtx 460 and 465 are close in price to a HD 5850 but the HD 5850 blows both of them away by a mile. Although gtx 465 sli is very good but an extra $40 gets so much more from the HD 5850.

The GTX 470 is now superior to the 5850 thanks to drivers and the price is on par to the 5850 as well but my only problem is I'm not in the market for added cost of a 1000 watt psu for 470 Sli when a 750 to 850 watt psu will do HD 5850 crossfire very well not to mention heat and noise from the gtx 470 is bad as I use air.

after market fans on a 470 will add $100 to a 470 sli set up not to mention $150 extra for a 1000 watt PSu. For $250 less and and a slight hit on performance the HD 5850 crossfire set up is still the best for $600 or $700 spent on graphics and PSU alone.

erm, nope. cheapest 470 is £270 from scan, and thats a no-brand card. cheapest 5850 from scan is £225 and thats a gigabyte card.
