Well, if this is basically half-of a quad-SLi setup, I am not expecting much from it. As we all know, optomized Drivers are the key to this thing reaching it's full potential, and as we all know, the quad-SLi drivers were absolute crap....

I think the reason for calling it a single card has more to do with the fact that it is a single PCIe x16 soulution then anything else. Yes, it's 2 PCB's but it it will only need one slot and BIOS support to run. No special chipset. This will run on any motherboard out there, provided there is BIOS support and a PCIe slot. So we are seeing SLi moving away from just nVidia's SLi chipsets to expose it to more marketshare.

Edit: It seems nVidia will not officialy support the quad SLi set up. They are taking the same stance as they do with overclocking, it's all DIY.

This thread is full of pedants. It looks like a single slot solution so what's all the fuss about it technically not being one card? There's just no pleasing some people

    EDIT:

Those Anandtech pics make it look like two slots :(

Maybe they're finally getting the bugs out of quad SLI, or expect to be able to resolve them within the lifetime of this card. Last week's insurmountable problem is today's cakewalk.

So this is a variation on the 'single PCIe card with two mobile cards attached to it' concept that turned up at one of the big tech show a while back, it's not a bad idea, still in the silly money price bracket though.

So everybody stop whinghing, so it's two cards strapped together, whoopdidoo! It's an SLI solution which only takes one PCIe socket and two card spaces, the same as alot of single high end cards.

Indeed. I only hope it will performe as good(or better), as a normal SLI config. Who really cares if it has 2 pcb or not, if it gives performance then bring it on!! :D :D :D

because it only takes up one slot that is why they call it a single card.
