just gone back to an nvidia card from ATI and cannot remember for the life of me how to do this, but basically i want my games to run at the same refresh rate as my desktop.
with ati cards you can lock it so all games are the same as desktop, is it possible with nvidia?

    thanks

I'm sure it is, but I haven't had an NVIDIA card running in my systems for about 3 weeks, so I've forgotten

hmmm is there a problem with doom 3 running higher than 60hz?
ive read that theres some file you can modify to get it higher but i cant find the file on my pc lol to change it.
ill try some more games 2moro to see if its just this game thats not 85hz.

on my main rig, I use something called "Refresh Lock" - it locks my refresh rate to the highest possible at the resolution I'm using. :)

    Right click your Desktop
    Click properties
    Click Settings Tab
    Click Advanced
Click Your Video Card's Tab (EX: 6800 Ultra)

A semi-pop-up will show and one of the options listed should be about Refresh Rates. You should be able to lock them from there. I will double check that once I get home to my nVidia box.
