They will have to do something pretty good based off the PCPer video of AMD's new Polaris architecture, compared to a nVidia Maxwell card.

Cannot say for sure that the high end cards will be like this but if they are I think nVidia need to start saying stuff soon about power etc because if the high end cards, are as frugal with power as the one in the video then AMD could be on to a real winner as long as the performance matches.

Should be some interesting reviews this year in terms of graphics cards.

    Damnit! :waah:

Yep we'll be getting a big chunk more performance from 16nm/HBM2

Eggs and Oranges. Polaris is 14nm, Maxwell is 28nm. Great to see AMD taking positive steps, but it will need to be head to head in price and generation to really compare.

That's compared to the GTX950, which is the least efficient (in terms of perf/watt) Maxwell card. The 960, which performs noticeably better, draws little more than 5w more under load. Still good news for AMD driving down power consumption across the range without needing WC to keep core temperatures low.

Dont really care how much power it uses. Enough less power = less heat i guess which cant be a bad thing, Most of us are going to overclock it though and remove the less power less heat lol.

Price / performance AMD has actually struggled to be competitive or are very late to party.

The Nvidia 970 got a massive lead and its still the best card for its price. Ive saw it on daily deals for below £240 nothing else is really close at that price point. The AMD 390 its competitor is around £260 may not be more expensive by much but the fact is it is more expensive and still very similar performance.
