Hrm, seems the performance boost is quite nice from the extra clocks. The memory seems to be insane on these things, 1.1ns, hitting nearly 1000mhz in some reviews....
    Simply awsome

Nice review... seems like another win for NV. I was surprised to see how little difference there was in BF2, but with the newer titles like FEAR, there's a pretty impressive increase :)

The difference in smoothness was massive between the two, but there's only so much further that you can go with settings - we were already at the max with an XFX Extreme Gamer, so you just get more performance with better texture filtering. :D

You guys see the clocks on the BFG? 580/1750MHz... :jawdrop: Found it for US$699.99 at Tiger. Anyone find it anywhere else yet?

On this side of the pond nobody seems to have stock. According to the store figures clocks are as follows:
    Gainward (550/1700) £485 Komplett - 50 Pieces expected 14/11/05
POV (580/1730?) £475.01 Komplett - No Stock waiting for delivery date
    XFX (580/1730) £512.01 Komplett - Waiting expected 22/11/05
    Also at £511.07 OCUK - 1-3 Days
and £516.99 Scan - X Not in Stock
    BFG (580/1750) OCUK - Pre-Order
    Leadtek (550/1700) £499.32 OCUK 1-3 Days

So no stock yet, and a no show at Dabs and Ebuyer. Figures will probably change tomorrow sometime.

Sweet muther...look at those prices :jawdrop:

Btw appears that the core clocks over 600 and the memory about 100 over stock (stock cooling). Places such as Nordic Hardware have put up previews of there initial test runs on overclocking. They managed to get 11,100 in 3dmark05 after the amx stock cooler overclock.

But still I dont know how to justify it, considering a good 256MB GTX overclocks to near 550 core anyhow, and gets nearly 8,500.

Also theres already talk of the next gen of Nvidia and even ATI  cards being just round the corner i.e. waiting in the wings.

Roudn and round we go :duh:

You can only play the waiting game for so long, it's not fair - I guess you just have to put your foot down :blah:

    BTW, welcome to Bit :thumb:

    Cheers bud, appreciate it :)

Iv been aroudn for a while on here, but I whent quite for a few months, came back and foudn a new forum look and my post count reset lol

    Thats Life ! grrrr :D

On the gfx cards front, im just gonna stick with my GFX 256MB that clocks lubly
By the time the 512MB and mad clocks actually start becoming *usefull*, we will either have new cards out or they will be due out in a short time.
Thats it! Im putting my foot down :naughty:

The problem is though that there will always be somthing new around the corner and if you always wait you will never buy anything. Somtimes you just got to bite the bullet. :wallbash:
