For the low end if anything it will likely be the area for a prebuilt/laptop for a bit as the only way to get value.
Or our only option is IGP/APUs... 'why make entry level, that's what APUs are for...' has been AMD's thinking for a while now.
But at least AMDs APUs go up to a reasonable high level with quad channel UMA at the top and none of this fixed VRAM BS.
I've still got 2x 980Tis in my main box and the eldest has a 980Ti or 1080Ti in hers. No complaints from us other than the laptop being unable to even run Lonely Mountains !
GTX 1080 still happy in my second pc. Still pretty capable. Wondering if the crazy component world will go insane enough to mean I can sell my spare 8Gb RX570 to help boost my pension E: Scratch that, it's only 4Gb
So on that point, does having less memory mean your GPU loads in "half a texture" so your game looks more cack, or it tries to load the full texture or whatever, but it slows itself down doing so, so you look pretty but run slower? And therefore have to drop the settings down to look "elderly" (I just made that up) but run for the bus at decent speed?
With no prior experience, I cannot bl00dy figure out from the videos what you're meant to do in this game. What are you lining up with what? And if you liked that, you absolutely should not go anywhere near Duet. It will eat up your life. (It looks like Steam isn't loading for me at the moment so I couldn't link through to it.)
In my experience with 970 4GB that I kept into 2020..... both. If game setting allows, lowering texture settings, then you'll get small-size texture and game looks bad. Not quite cack though. If game doesn't have this setting, your game loads in some textures and some are reduced in LOD and you get total cack blobs whilst some look okay. Whilst that is happening, you get stuttering and slow downs depending on game engine. I did predict AI driven component shortage will happen when 5000/9000 series was released. That's why I bought last-gen during the launch. I just didn't predict it would be memory components this time round, or I'd have stocked up on DDR5/DDR4 when Stargate was announced as investment vehicle
Some games just won't load textures at all and look cack and broken if you don't have the VRAM, consequently it performs well though with no textures
Get the little triangle through the gaps… and that’s pretty much it… Each “level” lasts no more than 60 seconds. You’ll spend a hell of a lot longer than 60 seconds actually trying to finish one level though… I’ve put about a dozen hours into that game and barely managed to finish two levels!
Jesus. Okay. That's a time sink. In that case, maybe swerve Duet then... I'm going to check this Hexagon out though if it's got a demo. I also just loaded in Nex Machina on the laptop and it gave me a warning about having less than 2GB memory!
I bought it too, it's great, like the music but I have not hit hexagon yet I'm going to blame the massive latency in my controllers and not my advancing years
Also allegedly cutting supply to AIBs by 20% https://www.techpowerup.com/345244/nvidia-reportedly-cuts-aic-partner-gpu-supply-by-up-to-20 Yes it is just a rumor, but with the DRAM shortage it would make no sense to ship out GPUs if there is no memory to pair with them.... so its a highly plausible rumor.
