So it looks like nVidia have put loads of graphics cards in a computer ... or something. I don't really understand the technicalities of it but it looks mildly interesting none the less. linky Sorry for the Daily Fail link but I'd also like to bring your attention to the apparent PHD students. I think if I was studying for a PhD I would want a news reporter do understand what it is.
What I like is this: There are so many things that are wrong with that analogy. Edit: And this jackass
That sentence also made me pull one of those funny faces. I'm so glad I have a graphics card so I can put a film on my iPod in 20 minutes
Loving the comments.. specially the mac one.. idiot. I wonder how much faster torrents will go according to their logic of a GPU speeding up a USB transfer lol Don't GPU already have a whole ton of cores/stream processors? Or maybe he's talking actual physical chips.. Lol.
Looks really cool - but how many people will be able to use it? Something like CFD or even matlab isn't cuda enabled.
Hasn't been known for quite some time that GPU's are much more capable that CPU's in terms of operations per second? I imaging if nVidia made a GPU that was pin compatible with i7 or whatever their newfangled processor technology is called, the GPU would out perform it easily because it has so many processing pipelines. This is, of course, assuming you have an application that can take advantage of all those processing pipelines. Or am I way off base here?
Some of the comments are brilliant. I loved the one about how comparable it was to a PS3, given PS3s use "nvidia thingies" too.

Some how the word 'Ipod' is suppose to clarify this beasts comparison to something more common? Good grief people are annoying. Dumbing down PC technology with an Apple product analogy is like telling me my Honda is comparable to a Boeing 747. And where are the real specs to that system? 250 times faster don't really tell me much!
Not to mention crysis.. EA: Hey look at this new fangled game! PC gamer: **** Consol gamer: **** Nvidia: **** Sun Microsystems: **** Mac Guy: ehh..
