    Hi ;)

Which is the temperature in ° celsuis not to be exceeded with a core i7 cpu on occt (full stress cpu)?

Is that a good frequency (3.6 ghz) for a core i7 cpu on air (noctua nhu12p) ?

This frequency (3.6 ghz) allows to make everything great ?

Thanks advance for your answer and excuse me for my very bad english, i hope so that you understand me.

3.6Ghz is a good speed to aim for, there is a strong chance that it should be achievable.

I would try and keep the temperature less than 85°C, although personally I would try to keep it less than 70°C.

Your English seems good to me. :)

    Hi ;)

Thanks for your answer sweet ;)

    Another question please :

After 2 hours on lost planet benchmark my i7@3.6 ghz temps <60 ° (Ambient temperature 24/25 ° )
What can you tell me ?

Like otheres have said, 85 is what I'd consider a 24/7 maximum overclock.

Yes, you should be able to run most games at max settings with 2 4870s in crossfire (including far cry 2) but possibly not crysis, as long as you have the right drivers!

    Hi ;)

    With my i7 920 @ 3.6 ghz with 1.30625 v my temps on occt (full stress) is ~ 70 ° with my noctua nh u 12 p (Ambient temp 23/24 °)

According to you it's ok for my HSF ?

    Yes.

The main thing is to keep the voltages as low as possible (i.e. not much above stock) and to keep the temperature less than 85°C.

It sounds like you have a good overclock.

I got my D0 i7 920 @ 3.8ghz and I hit 70 degrees max on IntelBurnTest with the awesome Titan Fenrir cpu cooler :D

Probably somewhere in the 1.25-1.3v region. I'm running a D0 at 3.8GHz as well, BIOS set Vcore is 1.275v, actual idle Vcore is 1.248v and load Vcore is 1.188v... :)

After 2 hours on lost planet benchmark my i7 (@3.6ghz) temps <60 ° so everything great ?
It's enough a i7@3.6 ghz in order to make everything great (games, encoding...) ?
    Thanks by advance

With my D0 I'm at 1.3v, but with my old C0 it required 1.33. Temps were (are) similar for both C0 and D0... just the D0 requires less volts.

The Lost Planet Benchmark won't stress the CPU 100% - something like LinX or Prime95 will, though. Still, if you're happy and the system is stable, it's up to you whether you want to stress test it more. An i7 @ 3.6GHz is enough for anything right now. :)

LinX is a GUI for Linpack, while IntelBurnTest is a CLI for it. That's why I prefer the former. :)

Intel Burn test is the most evil benchmark out there, so download LinX (GUI version) and run that. Nothing will get your chip as hot and bothered as that will.

I wouldn't consider a rig stable after 1 hour of stressing. It's probably pretty close, but to be honest, leave it running overnight if you want to be sure.... if you can.. run for 24hrs.

    It depends really.

I've found that with LinX, if it's unstable it'll either crash within seconds of starting (if it's not enough Vcore) or within 20-30 minutes (if it's not enough QPI voltage). Going by that, I tend to run 40 passes of LinX (set to a memory size of 4GB), a couple of hours of Prime95 and some Memtest... then start using it. If LinX lasts past the first hour, it's probably not going to error after that. I've had one system 'stable' in Prime95/Memtest that crashed doing simple stuff or idling, so these tests aren't always 100%. The twice I've run longer stress tests the system was completely stable for more than 24 hours at the same settings it had been stable at for an hour of Prime95, so the value of chewing all that power up for a simple torture test is questionable. In my opinion, purely. The best tests are what you do every day - if you crunch on the world community grid, then having that up 24/7 is the biggest stress test. ;) If, however, your system is rarely on for more than a few hours, having it 24 hour stable is somewhat overkill.
