My dear old Dad (an 81-year-old Doom fan!) has decided to play the original Crysis for the first time, but he's run into a problem. His PC barely makes the minimum specs, but he's turned the settings right down. Anyway, whenever he gets to the first automatic checkpoint, when Nomad's chute fails to open but he manages to make it to the beach, the game keeps restarting from the beginning again, meaning he can never progress. His virus scan is Kaspersky, and he's made sure the Crysis files are an exception (this was a problem I had with AVG when I tried to play Crysis on my machine - but is all OK now). Does anyone have any idea why this should be happening? My guess is still low system specs, but I could be wrong. I don't know his detailed system specs, but could get him to email me.
i doubt a low system spec would cause an auto-load loop can you turn the auto-save off and then try to start a new game ?
Not heard of this issue, is the game (and gfx drivers) patched up? You may also like the Crysis Custom Config (CCC) tool, it fine-tunes a lot of settings to increase frame rates for low end systems whilst keeping it looking good.
Thanks for advice gents, looks like disabling the autosave is the way to go. I don't think he did patch before playing, but it's the Maximum Edition, so should have been a fairly solid version. I should also get him to try Warhead and see what happens there.
