I've unsubscribed to his channel, he's incredibly arrogant and generally rude to the commenters it's completely put me off. Plus he often calls people retards and whatnot, that's not on in my book.
I don't know the guy personally, so I'll do my best to stay out of the 'TTL bashing' discussion, but I have noticed a certain amount of big headedness since he started his YouTube channel. He hasn't exactly been around for years and years... Don't think I'd be far off the mark saying he hasn't got a complete wealth of experience under his belt *shrug* Meh, what goes around comes around as far as I'm concerned. If he can treat competition winners and subscribers this way and keep a successful channel going, he has a poor standard of followers.
He knows his stuff and I've enjoyed his reviews but his attitude has changed in the last six months to a year. I hope this doesn't turn in to a 'TTL bashing' discussion as I'm watching his review on the Microlab Solo 7c as I type this.
I haven't quite gotten my bashing fix in, so to get it out without realizing everyone's fears of a TTL bash thread I'll just say that all internet personalities bother me. People seem to find idols to worship, YouTube channels and blogs are the height of this practice. Someone who's decent with a camera, has a good personality, and just enough knowledge on a subject and access to resources can become a trusted expert. There are reviews for everything, and famous reviewers for every subject. There are comedians, one-man news reporters and veritable variety shows. And my least favorite: Let's Plays where people go to watch their favorite internet personality play a game rather than playing it themselves. The problem I have with this is people start to put too much faith in them. In a field like PC tech most reviewers aren't very different than an enthusiast. The technical information is out there, the reviewer just gets a hands on and adds from impressions and opinions. There's certainly a need for reviewers like that, but some people forget just what they are.
Sure did as I said earlier. Its even more apparent on the OC3D forum, which is my main stay, a lot of newbies direct questions and he talks to them like they are ****.
I stopped watching his video's and supporting his site when he started telling people asking questions on Facebook to STFU, saying peoples systems looked like s**t and a dozen other rude, arrogant and all out unnecessary comments. If its at all a test of someones character, he'd be banned on BT forums.
It's really gone to his head. His reviews and videos are nice, but his builds are nothing special. There's no need to tear into someone because they want to mount their pump in a different part of the loop to him, etc.
I wish he could could just dial it back a bit. His builds are for the most part great for people who need a jumping off point, but when you couple that with his current attitude it really doesn't marry very well.
