I've wirtten a complaint already but is there anything I can do to work around the bloody thing? I really don't want to spend any more money buying a new mounting bracket.

It's also missing the fan mounting brackets which are also pretty important but easier to work around.

    EDIT: It's a Thermalright 120-Ultra A

I was going to order from OcUk but then saw those reviews. Think I'll stay as far away as possible.

Is it supposed to come with the AM2 mount as standard?

The 120 Extreme does, I've got a spare you can have if you want but I don't know if it'll be the same fitting.

I've used OCUK quite a few times in the past and haven't had any issues I got my RAM, HDD and screen from them when I built my system. Lately I've been using them for getting bits and bobs, they're warehouse is less than an hours drive from me and it's more convenient than try to get things delivered. Though having heard other people's experiences I don't think I will buy any high value items (GPU etc) from them in future.

Well AFAIK the 120-Extreme is the same as the A except with two extra heatpipes.

Looking at the diagram on the parts sheet it looks like the AM2 bracket doesn't even orient the heatsink the right way round (i.e the fan would point verticly up/down the board :duh:) although this is an issue with most AM2 heatsinks AFAIK.

Don't talk to me about OcUK.

They tried to convince me a "brand new" monitor that arrived was covered in fingerprints because it must have been a manufacturers test...

Rrrrriiiighhhtt, the old pressing the sweaty hands onto to the screen test to see if it falls over...

its always a mixed bag when you hear bad things about a business. People will happily bitch about a company, but how many threads in a forum do you see where people decide to praise a company. i've spent thousands of pounds with ocuk and never had any problems, rma's are alwasy given even when i got the headphones stuck in the hoover and ripped the cord from the volume control....its a mixed bag from what i've heard about ocuk, so give them a try, you never know the person saying they were sh$t might have been really rude on the phone which always makes things take a little longer.

plus your hs missing components, thats thermalright, not ocuk's fault!

    just a thought.
