Splitting hairs... the EU is an international union. LOL. No mate there is no right or wrong; it's just that some shops are more strict than others. I agree, but is it really necessary to give said companies bad press? I agree with Parge; some people just gotta whine.
The issue is that they have no right to deny your order based on the fact that you refuse to provide a ID. Especially after the payment went through. Plus a card statement and a utility bill in Hungarian will be really helpful to them.
It's not like i'm making things up to make them look bad. I showed you exactly what the company decided to request from me at what point, it's up to you guys to form your own opinion about it.
It's possible to stop others going through the same thing without being unnecessarily negative and calling a reputable business "shoddy." That's my point.
I disagree. It's a matter of opinion at the end of the day... OCUK didn't do anything wrong (nor did they do anything disingenuous IMO); if it's such a big inconvenience just ask for your money back and all's good. I for one would never expect a smooth transaction if buying from overseas, which is why I rarely do it.
And again, i will direct you back to the VISA and Mastercard rules. And UK doesn't count as overseas - global european market, EU, does it ring a bell ?
It rings a bell that some people on this forum will always bear a grudge against OCUK... happy to say it's not a problem I have. I'm out.
Now now. You accuse people of being unnecessarily subjective in their judgement, but when they bring rational arguments to the table you just accuse them of bearing a grudge. Practice what you preach, brother.
Ask for a refund and refuse to deal with them in future. I placed an order with them way back in 2006 and they sent me the wrong item and refused to refund not used them since simples. As for giving them bad publicity, I see nothing wrong with it a good business listens to complaints and tries to rectify them.
OCUK are a shoddy site with awful customer service, this forum is littered with complaints and horror stories about them. I'll certainly never buy from them.
I certainly wouldn't be pleased if had to go through such a verification process after having already placed my order. Particularly if the verification really was based on the country the package was being shipped to, why ship to Hungary if you don't trust Hungarian customers? It's a simple case of customers sharing their experience with like minded people so they are aware before dealing with the company themselves. Nothing wrong with sharing your problems with others for the sake of sparing them from similar problems!
Ive had this before, I just gave them the info though, as I was spending a fair bit of money with them
Found your first mistake! Found your second mistake! Seriously though, everyone here should know better by now. A reputation as bad as theirs is impossible to turn around as far as I'm concerned.
I think the same happened to me when i placed my first order with scan (it was over 2000 pounds alright) and i'm just over the water in Ireland. Have also worked for a worldwide company where in order to prevent credit card fraud we would ask for ID or something along those lines and even though it might be a pain in the a** for customers to sometimes provide it is in your favor that they do it. Wouldnt you be thankfull if a shop prevented a large payment if they spotted your card was stolen. Also it prevents card companies claiming money back from the shops through chargebacks because your card was used fraudulently with them and they have to cough up in the end. So even though you are legit you can see why they want to cover you and themsevles and from alot of nastyness. We live in a world were the simple few have f**ked it up for the rest of us and the security gets stepped up and its unfortunate but what can we do. Think about it: would you refuse step on a flight just because you wont alow security to search you???? Rant over... lol Rip
Again, I think that the objection is not to the security verification; I think that the objection is to this being asked for after the sale has been made. It's like showing up at the airport ticket in hand and being told you can't fly until you show a copy of your birth certificate to back up your passport. Oh, sorry, did we not mention that when you bought the ticket online?
