What with other companies jumping on the VR bandwagon I'm starting to wonder if the Rift is going to end up as vaporware, or maybe turning up so late to the VR party that it's all but over.

I hope this isn't so they can work on a controller... I already own a hotas! I'm really starting to regret not getting a dk2.

They better hurry up. Other companies are ready to release their own things and have their own technologies to help reduce nausea.

I don't understand - where does he say its unlikely to be released in 2015?

Surely there should be a quote to go along with the story?

I bet they are delaying to make sure they can compete with the Valve headset.

He was talking at the event parge is where the actual story is from. The fact bit tech have not posted the actual story is where the confusion lies. He did state that it was unlikely to get a 2015 release date in that story.

I bet they are worried about Vive.
But that is a bad move I say - I have DK2 and will sell it and get Vive if it comes out first and let me play Elite in higher res than dk2...

You may find others feel the same and therefore find it hard to find a buyer at that point.

Maybe they just don't have the time after all the dirty and nasty things they have to do to get the money?

I'm quite sad that this kind of technology makes me want to vomit. It's like motion sickness of a sort, I guess?

Yes it's what most of the people making it are working to avoid

i think they rethinking slightly due to valve coming out with such a pin point accurate (if first impressions are to be believed) 1-1 motion tracking vr system.

there goes the lets sell this and next year bring out the "upgraded" version to "we have to release the better version first" way of doing business in the tech field.

Well apparently HTC Vive fixes that.

HTC Vive looks impressive from whats been said. It also has the highest technical specs which will help. and the fact it does not require external cameras is a major + point to getting it into a household.

Sticking some cameras on top of walls will not go down well in some house holds.

But it comes with two laser projectors. You will need to stick it somewhere in your room.

Difference is Rift uses camera to read Rift's leds, where Vive uses lasers to send signal to Vive to read it. Other way around.
