Ive never heard of them but hell, that would have made a great undercover investigative tv show :dude:
Shockin' stuff, and thanks for the heads up. I was gonna get their PC3200 memory for when the Tbreds (finally) arrived. Something tells me I'll go elsewhere now
I don't understand...so they have slightly shoddy premesis and operate under a few different names...whats the big deal? People still get their stuff don't they? Reviews always say their memory etc is pretty darned good..
I was planning to get their PC 3000 mem. Been doing a lot of research on ram to build a stable system. Here is a review of the new PC3200 mem. To me, if they have decent warranty on the memory and it works, I don't really care what their shop looks like. Steve Jobs and the Woz started in a smelly-hippy ridden California garage (scans the room and looks for Apple lovers) ok, that's not a good example... Bill Gates and the gang started in a (hmmm that's not a good example either) well you get the idea... I haven't heard of anyone getting the ram and it not working.
There wasn't a single picture at all of any surface mount technology in those pics so I have some real doubts about any of it... Since I work in a Surface Mount Factory every day I can confidently say that hand soldering x amount of Ram sticks a day would be as smart an industry move as Steve Jobs actually marketing the iToilet or iGun. Big deal anyways!!! If you get your product and it kicks ass (like ALL the reviews say) then who cares???
i think the whole point is deception. they lead you to believe that they are a big corporation when they are just a little shop. i personally have never heard of them before.
I've heard of em, and often heard about them being a bit dodgy to say the least. They claim to be a massive compnay, and show pictures of what is their memory manufacturing plant on their site, but the tooling they show is not actually OCZ gear...I have heard it is some other companies, who allowed them to use the pictures as 'examples' but OCZ give the impression it is their own fab plant...........
thats exactly what i thought the point was... and of course reviewe samples can be different from the consumer's memory and i think the striping of assets (sale for $1) just before filing for bankruptcy would be looked on very suspiciously in the uk
<rant> It is like teaching a little child about lying, if you goof up once, you're through. If they are lying about their company's size, there is a chance that they are also lying about how much ground shipping costs, or how much that PC-3000 ram realy is. They might also take it a step further, like overcharging your credit card, or "distributing" your credit card number to others. They also might be selling your adress to spammers, or any number of things. Like I said, I'm sure glad I don't (and haven't) purchase idems from them. </rant>
its looked on very suspiciously here too, although im sure it happens a lot mor here than it does there
His findings were that OCZ (http://www.ocztech.com/products/memory/manufacturing/index.asp) were a backstreet shop and they dont produce their oen ram etc. It's all fake. They buy cheap RAM and deface it and put their name on it.
