right i ahve a video file sat on my pc, when i try & run it media player goes off hunting for a codec then comes back with cannot downlad codec i tried using gspot to see what it is encoded with but it does not work properly with .mpg's & it wouldent render the file to give me more info any ideas?
Try using virtual dub to open the file. You can use it to find out which video and audio codecs it requires. If it can't open it should give you some soft of helpful info on why not: http://www.virtualdub.org/
