OK. I have a Fenrir installed and recently swapped my mobo. Now i seem to be having some trouble with the PWM control. I've tried to get a good temp to be aiming for but its still spinning up and down fairly frequently and when it does spin down i get a tiny little whine (absolutely identical to a single cry from a Seagull) and it is damned annoying. Can anyone: A - Give me a clue as to a good temp to have. B - Tell me if i should think about having PWM off. C - Give a clue to a good software driven fan control program. I have downloaded SpeedFan but tbh i can't get any use or sense out of it. D - Give any other suggestion which wont cost me any money lol
A - For what processor, Athlon X2 7750+? 45*C? That's what my Phenom II X4 955 BE runs at under water anyway. B - Yes. That would be my guess as to what makes it whine. C - Your BIOS should have some options for fan control.
Yeah its for the 7750 BE. I've trawled through the (not very good BIOS) and i have no way to control fan speed only whether its PWN controlled or not. And with PWM on its just annoying atm, full whack or nothing. Damn thing. Whats really bugging me right now though is that SpeedFan seems to accomplish absolutely nothing, no matter what i do it doesn't affect anything, i dont get it.
