Considering the OP hasn't actually addressed most of the dream-crushing, it has the same kind of 'epic troll' feeling to it as that famous thread the guy posts with his red sports car and hideously-ugly 'girlfriend'.

I can't believe so many of you are taking it seriously!

Futurlec.com -I put an order in with them yesterday. They don't seem to have a section for 'Iron Man parts' though.

If the thermoelectric generator idea was feasible, we could solve the world's energy problems by putting generators in high school student's crotch area. Remember the residual heat from those chairs when you changed classes? Hormone powered furnaces!

    +1 on the Pikashoes.

There's going to be a lot of trouble getting this to work. Japan have yet to build a Gundam! They've had, what... 35 years? The closest they have got so far is ASIMO and those lame dog toys. They are so occupied with getting the thing to dance right, they lost their original purpose -GIANT, CITY CRUSHING ROBOT!

So here's what you need to do:
~Wait until they build a life sized version of ASIMO.
    ~Steal it.
~Skin it, and wear it Ed Gein-style. (Remember; It's Japanese, so you have to scream, 'Pilder On!' when you put the helmet on.)

    :D

ASIMO and any exoskeleton can't really be compared to each other.

ASIMO does it's own thinking, which is the great challenge there. An exoskeleton is controlled by the human inside. Making it respond correctly is the challenge. Apparently it's not as easy as it sounds.

Hey guys, I'm really not sure whats with you and the dream bashing, but keep it up! Its motivating me. I'll get a real sense of accomplishment when I do something that people kept telling me that couldn't be done. Besides, at the moment I'm fiddling with concepts (this case being the power).

And I also said this to the project....

you can do all the parts: exoskeleton, jet power, computer gyro flight system.

And to get a worthwhile increase in strength at a speed thats worth while you'd need a hydroylic or pnumatic system which will be to big to fly.

But you'll have to much weight to put them in one.
You can have the exoskeleton but not the jet power, or the jet power but not the exoskeleton.

Here or some youtube vids you might like though.

I'm not dream bashing, just giving my opinion.

OK i think your goals are a little high for your ability mate. It seems like your trying to concur something that would be a very ambitious project for a many-million dollar funded project with high end engineers.

Robotics are neat and don't have to be very expensive- Why not be more practical and try to work your way up? why don't you try to say, build a controllable RC car or something, or a robot that doesn't put YOUR life in danger if you mess up? just something simple to get the hang of it

At the moment, I'm working on some basic concepts, like power and such. I don't Intend to do the WHOLE suit myself...

hahahahahahahaha, kudos to the rick roll mate. That was hilarious.

and i'm still on your side mate, push a dream as far as you can before giving up hope because there is always lessons to be learned. However. I do agree with Teyber on this one, get your feet with some smaller things before you get to deep. Research and concepts are definitely something you should keep working on. But while your at it. get some smaller projects going too

Ok I have some ideas that may help you.
Build the systems on a network so that each component (elbow, knee joint) is a node on the network that way you could control the whole thing simply and simplify wiring.

You could control each node with a simple code like this.

    0000ff: 000090
(just pilfered a bit of hex for this)
node 000,000,255 (a knee joint) would be set to 90 degrees (000090).
I have no idea how correct this code would be but its just a simple idea for controlling the parts.
