Hey guys, awesome news; I've found a guy over at the 405th infantry division to give me a hand with the suit. So in a matter of time, a bunch of updates are gonna come really fast.

    Okay guys, time for a "hope" (least in my case) update. I got the helmet model, so I'm working on that for the time being. I'm gonna do the helmet prototype in a 6 step process;
    1. Pep it, or in other words make a 3D paper model
    2. Resin/Fiberglass it
    3. Bondo it
    4. Sand it
    5. Bondo it again
    6. And finally sand it once more
Note: I will not be painting the prototype.
After that, I may or may not make molds for it (idea in progress). If I don't do that, I'll just put the electronics in the prototype. Anyway, I would like to (and I'm doing research on) Night Vision, Heat Vision, Regular Vision and Shock resistance.

    Amazing thread :eeek:

It's funny how you don't seem to think that figuring out how to fly is enough of a problem, but you also have to make the fancy suit, complete with special features such as heat & night vision

It is bizarre, isn't it. Mind you, this could be one of those comic-book adventures where we heap scorn on his idea, he becomes a recluse and when he does get it working he begins a campaign of vengeance against society; think the Green Goblin etc.

I'm abiding by the old rule 'pics, or it didn't happen.'

    Lol, probably.

I'd have thought it would be cheaper and more realistic to have a bespoke suit of armour made, perhaps with a modern twist to the styling to get the Ironman look/ feel without being 99% impossible to make compared to his original plan...

My plan is to do a Robotics Degree... Which I start this year... Still the tricky problem of the power supply though, as I've been pondering this since I was 15, so nearly a decade now!! The second problem is responce time, so when I finish my degree I'm going to look into a Cybernetics masters.

You know what, I'm going to favourite this thread on the remote chance that something incredible may come from it :p

(On another note, do we reckon Tony Stark would've made a thread "HEY GUYS, MID-LIFE CRISIS GONNA SAVE THE WORLD CHECK OUT THIS PROJECT!"

Girls, school, a driver's license, reality, the ATF... I can think of a dozen reasons why the thread died.

    @ Steve @ CCL

Not bad! Looks kinda funny ^^

The only real thing what somebody can make is a copy of the suit without any wounderful weapon power.

The only problem with the idea is that the suits armour is loose fit, then when you're in it's kind of like a corset in where a crap load of pulleys and cables attached to what would have to be as thin as Macarno acting as leavers pull the armour plating shut so it's seamless this it's self would be an almost impossible task given the size of the motor required to actually move the weight (even with decent pully ratios) then you've gota remember padding inside etc,

It's a wonderful concept. I personally would rather see a functioning mech suit as there is no restriction on size it can be as big as it needs to be. The Ironman suit has to fit you while looking like a proportional human. Possible? Not imo
