i think it's finally time to get a ps3, i really like the 360 and was happy to give it the benefit of the doubt but to now have 3 break on me is just stupid. time to fill in the repair form i guess :(

Wow that's pretty bad, if you bitch at MS enough I'm sure they'll give you a free repair (if it's not in warranty) and some free games.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but a friend of mine said his friends xbox 360 broke 3 times also, but his was under warranty because he had purchased the extended which is 2 years instead of 1. After the 3rd time of being sent in, my friend told me they had sent him a free elite. Anyone wanna verify this?

it's got the rrod so it's covered by the 3 year warranty, but it's only about a year old anyway.. be nice if i got a free elite, i shall wait and see lol

You should definitely get something, you'll have to give the phone centre guy an earful about it.

If you used a game loyalty card the transaction will be on there and that counts as a receipt. If they say that's not true then tell them that's what you were told when you bought it (I was when I bought my PS2 slim).

I've just heard something very interesting from my brother, he read this article on his gaming clan's website.

Apparantly the failure rate on a 360 is about 33%, while the failure rate on a nintendo wii and ps3 are both under 1% each. I just read that microsoft reported only a 5% failure rate, while retailers such as bestbuy and other shops report about 30%.

If you ask me all the "new" xbox 360 models still seem to be braking. From what i've read, the old models did RRD but it was after 2 - 3 years of heavy use due to excessive heat, while the newer models seem to under 1 year before getting the dreaded problem. I'm not here to praise sony, but i've had my PS3 since they were first released, and i have never had a problem with it. No freezes, no lock-ups... So far the worst thing was installing linux on it, and one controller crapped out on me because i dropped it one to many times.

    Yes you are.

My bro has had his 360 since launch and has not had the RRoD yet. Its the first model obviously and he plays on it daily without any extra cooling etc. Likewise, I've had no problems with my PS3 that was purchase a good year after its initial launch.

it's certainly a fact that the 360 has a high failure rate. i read about it on several articles already and my friend who works at target also tells me that they've had several complaints from their sales on xbox 360's. I hope mine won't crash anytime soon. Oh i so hope it won't

    that's just really unlucky :jawdrop:
I've had my 360 since launch day, and aside from getting really hot all the time, its going well (so far) :D
