This was in my local paper, the El Paso Times, today: Oh, that burns: The family of the late legendary singer Johnny Cash has blocked an attempt by advertisers to use his hit song "Ring of Fire" to promote hemorrhoid-relief products, BBC Online reports. The idea has been backed by Merle Kilgore, who co-wrote the song with Cash's wife, June Carter Cash. But Cash's daughter, Rosanne, said the family "would never allow the song to be demeaned like that." Cash and his wife died in 2003. Ouch. That has to hurt.

would he have the right to OK it? oh, remember when tipper gore and her gestapo tried to (pretty much) ban all good music in america? Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), John Denver, and Frank Zappa were the postermen of the opposition. (they ended up losing, so much for free speech). as payback, the PMRC (the ones that ACTUALLY put the warning labels on albums) put an "explicit lyrics" label on Franks next album, BUT IT WAS JAZZ, NOT ONE SPOKEN WORD!!! guess it was all the things he DIDN'T say.
Anybody who has the gall to name their kids Dweezil and Moon Unit 2 gets a lot of respect in my book.
