Hey, i am looking to build my first pc following the advice of members on here, and have chosen the following parts: AMD Phenom 2 X4 955 3.2ghz http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/AMD-...ion-Sok-AM3-32GHz-8MB-Total-Cache-125W-Retail 4GB Corsair XMS3 Dominator DDR3 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-...0-(1600)-240-Pin-Non-ECC-Unbuffered-CAS-9-DHX Asus M4A785TD-M EVO http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus...-DDR3-1800(OC)-1600(OC)-SATA-II-SATA-RAID-VGA Sapphire HD4870 Vapor-X 1GB http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...MHz-GDDR5-GPU-750MHz-DL-DVI-I-HDMI-D-Sub-HDCP 320GB Hitachi HD http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/320G...r-7K1000B-SATA-3Gb-s-7200-rpm-16MB-Cache-0-ms 650W Silverpower PSU http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/650w...er-80-Plus-CertifiedIntel-ATX-12V-6Serial-ATA Samsung CD/DVD rom http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Samsung-SH-S163B-BEBE-Black-48x-CD-ROM-16x-DVD-ROM-SATA-OEM CoolerMaster CM-690 V2 Dominator Case http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Cool...k-Midi-Tower-Case-with-Mesh-Top-Panel-w-o-PSU Dynamode 10/100 PCI Network Card So does this all look ok/compatible, and i have i missed out on anything? lol
Are you planning on using the stock CPU cooler (I assume it comes with one)? No reason you shouldn't unless you're planning any major overclocking or want to keep things quiet, but its one of those things that I usually forget to factor in until later.
Yeah i think so, I may overclock but not a huge amount. Thanks for the advice Elton, I'll have another look at that to see what's available.
See no major problems, Silverpower is good but Corsair are better for HDD - Go for the Spinpoint F1 also in Scan, faster and reliable, reasonably quiet Scan have been ripping people off for so long when it comes to RAM - corsair is their only flavour, try either this: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/...DDR3-PC3-10666/1333MHz/BL2KIT25664TA1336.html or this from Overclockers UK http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-165-OC and no one who know's anything about computer's uses retail HSF willingly - noisy, cheap, ineffective and shoddy build quality do not a good cooler make, try one of these: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/Akas...0-AM2-AM2plus)-Heat-Pipe-cooler-120mm-PWM-fan , got a gold from Bit Tech for value, cooling and all round goodness
For the price you are paying for that GPU you could get a 4890! The vapor x cooling is in no way a good trade over getting a 4890. This is assumeing you want to play games. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...Mem-3900MHz-GDDR5-GPU-850MHz-2x-DL-DVI-I-HDTV comes with 2 year warranty and will smoke the 4870 card.
Lol right, didn't realise the pricing was that similar, thanks for pointing out. 650W PSU still good for that?
