    <pshycotic rant>

im sick of it, its crap!!!!!!
my laptop i spent so much money, I HAVE HAD TO REIMAGE THE HDD 6 times in about 4 months!!!!!!!

    six goddamned times

i mean does anyone else have these problems

i mean i got 2 BSODs after rebooting from installing the factory disc image not one but TWO ****ing BSODs.

oh and when it finaly did come up i pluged in the mouse i ordered with the laptop and XP says it doesnt recognize it, HOW CAN IT NOT RECOGNIZE THE SAME MOUSE IV BEEN USING SINCE I GOT THE LAPTOP

IM SO INCREDABLY SICK OF THIS CRAP

try calling HP i sit on hold for 43 min (yes 43 i know my phone shows how long your on the phone for) and then they HANG UP ON ME

XP is crap, it keeps crashing and it keeps screwing up. I do regular maintenence on the thing. compressed air in the kayboard and vents every 2 days to keep it dust free, Disk defrag every week, virus definitions up to date, Disk scans every 2 weeks, registry back ups daily, never droped, never shocked, submerged, NOTHING I TRET IT WITH KID GLOVES, i treat it better then my girlfriend. and still i am hounded no PLAUGED by this crap. I cant understand why!!!!!!!

does anyone else have these problems?

my fav. is when windows starts, but doesnt think it needs to LOAD EXPLORER.EXE. i get my wall paper and a cursor AND THATS IT. i can still launch some things from the taskmanager windows but god damnit i shouldnt have to. IM READY TO THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH

I know what you mean, but I've gotten used to it :p
When I bootup my laptop, I go get some coffee. My laptop is booted entirely when I get back from my coffee...

/me waits for Ubermich to show up :D

Try not using Windows XP. It only works on calculators, since they can't BSOD since they don't have blue. :p

    Try 2000 or Linux/BSD.

    You know me too well...

I'll trade you laptops... Mine works perfectly... minus sound... unless you feel like loading win9x or win2k... but it is running redhat6.2 right now...
And it only takes 10 minutes to boot!

You still wanna throw YOURS out the window?

Wow, sucks to be you two. IBM Thinkpad A21m with WindowsXP right now. I kind of regret the update as memory in this thing is 128mb I believe, but my bootup without password is like a minute, maybe two. It is 700mhz with rage mobility. Nice laptop, great for everything except games. Used to be able to run Counter-Strike on lowest settings possible. Not able to anymore for some reason.

i would use another operating system if: I could get the drivers for the special one touch ap launch buttons (they dont offer that) and 2 if it wouldnt void my warenty. <SIGH> im going to guess its the HDD thatneeds to be replaces or the memory. oh i dont know i just think $1800 is too much to spend on a paper weight

If you are getting Blue screens of Death on Windows install then I would check memory with memtest86 or Microsofts Memory Utitlity to make sure your RAM is ok.

Another thing is that the recovery disk may just have a utterly **** install in it.

Funny how people have problems, I intalled XP Pro on my workstation computer at work January 2002 and it was absolutly rock solid, I had that rig doing video/sound editing no problems at all.

Likewise - I have had no problems with XP that weren't hardware caused.

I have had no problems with XP except when my PSU was on its way out. I would guess either your image is crap (I have had plenty of issues with them!) or you have some dodgy hardware in there.

Running XP on 3 comps. here.. all of them works great...

only problem i have seen is the newwest comp... it have rebooted itself a couple of times... it just suddenly reboot... getting an "systrem recovered from serious error" or something like that... still haven't figured out what causes that... this is a stationary comp though...

    /me wants laptop aswell!

Running XP on 2 comps here, and installed it on a number of machines.

    None of them crash.

Maybe just luck, but I like XP:thumb:

XP is hit and miss, if it works, it works fine, if it has a few problems, they lead elsewhere.
