The problem is that you are wasting money on things that don't give you a performance boost. Why not sneak in a few games instead, rather than wasting money on a power supply and twice as much memory as you'll use? Most people swear by using Scan over here. If you are willing to shop at OcUK, they have 4870s from £93. Not much slower than a 4890, and a fair bit cheaper. In fact, if you wanted, you could go AMD, still have a very fast system, and buy many games. The fact is, you aren't going to need a massively powerful system to play at that resolution.
According to sum 2 ati 4870x2's use 1250 psu ? My system here is going to last a while and when i can ill whack in two 5870x2s so psu wont be wasted.
You won't be able to future-proof a PSU that much. What if new products require new cables? We simply don't know until products are released unfortunately.
I was wondering why you want so much ram in the system, even my humble 4GB of OCZ is enough for my needs with Vista ultimate 64bit and all the games/programs the system runs.My advice is have a coversation with the Bit tech staff who know their onions, and get some advice on what you can build.Dont get into the biggest/more is best frame of mind, this is more often than not the case, plus you wont waste your cash on kit that you dont need and/or use. Some of it seems overkill to me.You failed to mention a monitor in your posts,or have i missed that one?
