Basically making use of what I've got untill end of nov when I build the new rig... A mid 2012 13.3" macbook pro with a i5 3210 intel hd4000 onboard graphics 8gb ram ssd dual booting windows 11... I want everyone to recommend games from up till 2012ish to play... Recently weighed in the following: Medal Of Honor Allied Assualt, some of Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Max Payne 1/2, Warcraft 2, Dead Space 3, Fallout 3 (can't run Vegas at nice enough eye candy/draw distance so get own lol so waiting), Splinter Cell Conviction/Blacklist, Soul Reaver 1/2, Portal 2, CSS and Replaying the og 3 Splinter Cells as well. Release ze houndddddsss!
nah I was tempted... just IDK they're a bit boring aren't they. I do get why on paper the sandbox style and choice of stealth or violence is awesome and I did kinda enjoy them but the ending was meh and I was just enjoying pointlessly killing everyone and smashing through it as quick as possible haha! so it is my fault but the plot sucked. the beginning looked badass though!
one of my all time favourite series, ever! will see how the poor hd4000 plays ball. if not ill save that series to replay when I get the 3080 or 4XXX series and max it out. such a perfect classic, the 2nd game is probably my favourite. I liked the 3rd too which some people didn't? I thought it was cool playing as both brothers.
I've always taken the stealth approach on every playthrough, way more rewarding. Boring is the last word I would use to describe either game. I'd say A Crack In The Slab is probably the most innovative game level I've ever played.
I love mgs tlou hitman etc but for me that game was more fun being violent and just being a savage haha. maybe try it violent and see what you think next play through. the plot sucks regardless of gameplay though.
only recently done skyrim and was gutted how crap the ending was compared to say a fallout done all the half lifes again a couple of years ago. cheers for your suggestions though mate. might redo hl2/episode 1+2 again though as only done hl2 once all way through.
Hmm, given your laptop's specs, I'd be surprised if it could play anything around or after the Crysis era. I'd say go oldskool: Tyrian 2000 Crusader series Half-Life 1+2 (2 MAY just about get by) Doom (not 3 or the reboots, obs) Command & Conquer remake may work, pre-3 numbers will defo work Red Faction Total Annihilation Wing Commander: Privateer Unreal 2 If you manage to get through those before November, you need other hobbies.
the ssd and 8gb ram really does help. I can play far cry 1 with max settings 1080p well not messing about with af/aa but yeah I was very impressed with how good it looked doing splinter cell conviction and blacklist at 720p mid settings. it seems to vary a lot game to game. dead space 3 runs ridiculously good/pretty in 720p for example. I thought it would run awfully. crysis wise I reckon I wouldn't have a problem as I played that fine on my originally 2008 unibody macbook pro with a 256mb 9400m and a C2D 2.4ghz with 4gb ram and a 7200rpm 2.5" hdd... where as this has a gb of video memory and a dual core 2.4ghz i5, ssd, 8gb ram etc...
yeah tested it earlier. can run reasonably well at 1080p so I might just go for a nice high 720p setting.
I was saving replaying this for the ps4 edition but I do fancy it with a keyboard and mouse... HMMM...
