I have two lcds that i was about to through away when i decided someone has to know how to use them to show temp or time.one is an old samsong (model no.sgh-n105) cell phone. The other is out of an old printer (dont know the company or model no)that has the number on it AK66930-01.the cell phone is on top and the printer lcd is on the bottom
that chip is on one of them(and i fixed the pics now there gifs) let me check the cell phone and see if it has one. oh ya i forgot i also found a third lcd while digging through my junk box ill check them both out and see if they have them
You need to google for datasheets on each of the displays (using model numbers) If you find sheets and the displays are HD44780 compatible then just follow the LCD wiring guide in the electronics forum.
well for one screw the pics, and two i went to google serched every number on all three devices and didnt find a thing
Read the guide at the top of the page (its a sticky). LCD displays can be had really cheap, 16x2 ones can be found for $5/£4 nowadays, you need to wire them youself though. If your not sure what your doing I suggest going down that route - its not too hard and gives good results for a reasonable price.
Sorry mate, I think you'll find this thread drying up talking with that attitude. These guys are *really* trying to help. They give you good advice. The HD44780 is an Hitachi control chip for LCD/VFDs (as far as I can tell). Very common on LCD displays these days. Let's be frank - if you can't see or don't understand what they're saying, leave the project alone.
i am very sorry to you all but i didnt realy know i was hurting enyones feelings, well mabye i should just leave this project alone. thanks to all enywase
