I'm not sure if this has been done before, but then - even if it has, with all the new people around here, it might be worth doing again.

I passionately hate sequels of most kinds.
Give you an example: Far Cry - good, great looking, why are they making ANOTHER shooter that's just like the previous one.

This thread is about old games that you wish they'd remake, though... or - make sequels to.

Here's some that spring to mind:
Blade Runner (the 1997 PC game, not the earlier one). Yes, it was mostly video, but it was so moody, and the "anyone can be a replicant every time you restart" principle was new... it was awesome. And it did the "enhance the image" thing way before CSI.

Street Rod (1989) - Prolly the first PC game i owned... a street rod MMO would be t*ts...:D

I'd rather see new games instead of old ideas re-run, tbh.

Freelancer. A good dog-fighting space game is really difficult to find.

    Hey All, first post W00t!

IMHO i think the gaming industry has run out of really original ideas, so all they can do is make re-runs, and when an original idea does come along, its flogged to death within a year.

A good example of this is all those WWII games out there, never stopping, but the same old every time

I'd say thats a given. Its always preferable to have a brand new idea hit the market then a remake but as per the 'Blast from the Past' article in the new CPC issue, we gamers are just rife with nostalgia :)

    QFT.

Maybe we should start a 3rd World war so that our children's children have someone new to shoot. </sarcasm>

Of course, i agree with Joe as well... I'd love see more games with at least some original content (new crouching and a new gun pew-pew don't count), but more adventurous developers would be swell...

    that doesn't mean that i wouldn't LOVE a new R6...

lolz ya. Only problem with that is that all those games would have the exaclt same ending: you launch/get hit by a nuke. THE END! :)

What I want to play again are all those lucas Arts puzzle games. Any one remember Day of the Tentacle?

Hardwar. Brilliant concept, great fun game, nice dogfighting in 3d although you were limited with a height ceiling due to the physics of the planet you're on.

A few fan patches are out but you really hafta play it multiplayer to get the best of it, and I long since don't know anyone who might want to play it.
