Hey guys so I've been fiddling around with this rig I just put together. I am aiming to eventually run Linux on it, though for right now for temps/clocks I am running Windows 7.

Any way, the rig starts up and shuts down like lightning and is very responsive. However, the internet (and in particular down speeds) are pants. I know it's running a pretty old wireless card (Atheros IIRC, comes as a module plugged into the mobo) do you think it could be that? I can't run it wired just yet ( but will be eventually).

Maybe I could try a USB wireless NIC? I've got a few... I'm only pulling 1.5mb p/s when I should be pulling three to four times that.

Quite likely to be the wireless card. Try a USB one and see what happens. Definitely the easiest thing to try.
