Case Mod - In Progress [on Haitus]Gaming_freak_10's Laptop Mod

Hey everyone,

Welcome to my very first Laptop Mod... the first laptop mod I ever saw was ac22297's Old Laptop to Tablet Mod.

Thanks to ac22297... he inspired me to do my own laptop..

I think the pictures are broken.. not sure how to upload these... can anyone help me?

Also I need to find a laptop hard drive around here.. I know I had one...

 

you can't, bit-tech doesn't support that feature.

Actually, for your mod, I'll give you an FTP account for you to use it for free.
It's not the best server, bandwidth is low.. but its fine for forum usage. I gave you a 50MB of storage.

Ok the Mod is temporarily on ice for now because I have to find Plexiglas (perspex), plus the bolts and nuts and the power brick for the mod. So Hope you guys don't mind waiting for a while for this mod.

Here are the pictures of my laptop before and after disassembling!

 

I know you bit techers are saying "WTF? an acer? dude that is a crappy brand..." But listen to me. It's the only one that I currently have right now.. and the hard drive is being sourced right now as we speak same with the power brick after i inspected the power port on the computer here... still in good shape but I lost the power brick to some freak accident for some reason. And beside the case was in a really bad shape so I decided to Mod this thanks to AC22297's Mod Guide to Laptop to Tablet Mod.


The Plexiglas that I found is pretty good... just need to get enough money to get those.. same with the bolts and nuts and etc etc... oh well this is my first mod here! Hope you guys don't mind waiting for a bit while cuz I just got a new job and new place to stay...

 

Your laptop is great! Just a quick wipe, flame torch it, and it will be good as new

 

I cannot tell the difference between joking and real... well this laptop is all i got right now...

 

Any statement involving using a flame torch against a computer should be considered a joke.... except if it's an Acer or perhaps a old Mac new macs you can strip and put in good PC hardware in

 

Well this laptop is all I got right now bit techers... but its good enough for me right now.. I'm a console gamer and the laptop right now is in pieces... thankfully I have desktop here... going to install Ubuntu on the laptop and use it as a casual surfing computer I guess..

 

Behold my lame Paint Skillz... This is what I came up with since the screen's cable is short... I'll take pictures of the said cable to explain my theory.




That red square area is the cable and as you can see its pretty short so the drawing above is my theory to do that.. Your opinions??

 

Thread Bump... any opinions on what kind of case should I build for this?? similar to those old 1998 iMac cases or something??

 

I'd put the mobo behind the screen due to the length of the cable.

 

Yeah, put the motherboard behind the screen. If you're doing a laptop mod it's your only possible location (it'd get in the way if you mounted it in front of the screen)

 

Ok thank you very much ficklampa and Ginevere on another note i'm re-naming this mod to Laptop Mod its not a good mod if you cant do a tablet anyways... now I have to figure out how to move the vent/fan setup for this... maybe make a redirect thing to the side so it doesn't heat me up every time I use the computer... also should I get some fans to get rid of the heat or should I make a mesh cover or something for this??

 

i'd put the mobo behind the screen, and do an L-shaped base and keep it on my coffee table for relaxed browsing and controlling a media center (if you have one - i don't )
also, a nice idea would be to make it possible for the screen to rotate on the base from portrait to landscape, although i think that you would need a bigger screen cable for that.
i think i might go find myself an old laptop and do the same
