i know there's a couple iPhone users on this site, and we have been stuck with slow, buggy safari for 3 years.

    not anymore!

Opera Mini has now been approved on iPhone. it features fast page loading, Opera quick start page and best of all, tabbed simultaneous page loading

i was reading google reader, opening multiple full web pages and jumping between tabs with speed like im on my desktop. only thing slow is the pause iphone OS needs to pop up its keyboard.

I'll be honest, I tested it and really hate it compared to Safafi.
Pinch and Zoom doesn't work right as it "snaps" to text rather than a proper zoom. It re-sizes text to fit the screen width when zoomed in but not images. It felt slow. There is no tapping the clock/status bar to return to top so you have to scroll.

Speed... Well.. I actually think it's slower, I prefer the way the safari renders the page as it downloads rather than just dumping it onto the screen as one large block. This is probably a matter of perception though.

Dare I say it, Safari just feels more suited to the device.

Biosniper, you must have a newer device 3GS?

on my original iPhone, it is so much faster, Safari loads pages in ages and zooming also takes ages, Opera mini is really fast, and i love the tap to zoom. the concept is that you can never hit a link when it's zoomed out, so you have to zoom in to read and hit links.

to be honest, i never understood pinch to zoom, i've always double tapped to zoom in. pinch to zoom feels like a gimmick on webpages, to read text, surely you will want your text to be always same width as the screen.

Sadly I have an iPhone 3g. It's probably just perception based on the way pages are rendered tbh.
